TOEFL ITP® Listening Part A: Short Conversations
TOEFL ITP® Listening Part A: บทสนทนาสั้น
EN
TH
Part A practises the shortest kind of listening task: two speakers exchange a couple of lines, a narrator asks a question about what was said, and you choose the best answer from (A) to (D). The questions usually test what a speaker means, what they will do next, how they understand something, why they understand it that way, or why they decided to act that way, rather than what the words literally say, so idioms, polite refusals, and expressions such as “Tell me about it” or “I couldn’t agree more” appear often. This section has 30 sets of 10 questions each, and the practice is divided into three difficulty levels. Level 1 is easy: the answer is usually stated in the conversation. Level 2 is medium: the wording is simple and can be translated directly, but the answer is not stated word for word in the conversation. Level 3 is hard: it usually uses idioms that cannot be translated literally, and you need to analyze the conversation to work out what would normally happen next.
